Our Faith
Casey and Jordan Willis, authors of the Shining Truth Series
What we believe
We are Christians. We believe in one God, who has always existed as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We have all sinned, but God loves us. His eternal Son, Jesus, died for our sins and rose again, and by His grace everyone who trusts in Him is forgiven and given eternal life. This is what Christians have believed since the very first church, summed up in the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds and taught in the Bible. Everything we write starts there.
We wrote this series for Christian families of every church. So the books do not take sides on the questions that divide denominations. They stay with what Christians hold in common.
Why we care about good reasons
“But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.”
1 Peter 3:15 (ESV)
Peter wrote this to ordinary believers, not scholars. He expected every Christian to be able to say why they believe. Giving that defense is called apologetics, from apologia, the word Peter uses here.
We believe faith and reason belong together. Faith isn’t blind. It’s built on clues. Children ask honest questions about God, and they deserve honest answers they can understand. That is what this series is for: helping families discover there are good reasons to believe.
The end of the verse matters to us as much as the beginning. Families who believe differently, and kids with doubts, are welcome here, and we hope every answer we give is given with gentleness and respect.
